What is Soundproofing for your home?
Soundproofing your home is all about creating a quieter, more peaceful living environment by reducing the transfer of noise from through the walls, floors or ceilings. Whether you're hearing footsteps from upstairs, voices through the walls, or the neighbours music or TV blaring, effective soundproofing can make a big difference.
Our team can use a variety of high-performance acoustic materials such as dense mineral wool, soundproof boards, membranes and resilient fixings. The perfect solutions will depend on budget, space and the noise we are trying to reduce. The goal is to block, absorb, and isolate sound, all while keeping disruption to a minimum.
Whether you're dealing with noisy neighbours, echoing rooms, or just want more privacy between spaces, we’ll help you find the right soundproofing approach for your home.
Types of soundproofing for your home.
We offer tailored solutions for walls, floors, and ceilings, depending on where the noise is coming from.
- Wall soundproofing helps block voices, TVs, and other airborne noise between rooms or adjoining properties.
- Ceiling soundproofing reduces the impact and airborne noise from upstairs rooms or neighbours—perfect for flats or busy households.
- Floor soundproofing helps limit noise transmission to rooms below, such as voices, music of TV's.
What Soundproofing can we install?
That is entirely dependent on budget and space available. A combination of materials will often be used, the more you want to spend the better the system can be. Some solutions we can offer include:.
🧱 Wall Soundproofing
Sound travels easily through walls in many UK homes, especially in terraced or semi-detached properties. Our wall soundproofing systems help reduce airborne noise such as voices, TVs, or music from adjacent rooms or neighbouring properties.
Options include:
- Independent stud wall systems – a new stand alone insulated wall, ideal for maximum performance.
- Direct-to-wall solutions – slim-profile acoustic panels or boards fixed directly to the wall to save space in tighter rooms.
- Acoustic insulation between studs – using dense mineral wool to absorb sound inside the wall cavity.
Each setup can be tailored based on your space and soundproofing goals—whether you want maximum quiet, minimal loss of room size or are working to a budget.
🪵 Floor Soundproofing
Floors can transmit both
impact noise (footsteps, dropped objects) and
airborne noise (conversation, music) between levels. We install underfloor soundproofing systems that target both.
Typical options include:
- Acoustic mineral wool between floor joists to absorb sound.
- Soundproofing mats or panels fitted directly under floor coverings like carpet, wood, or laminate.
- Decoupling systems to isolate the floor from the ceiling below, reducing impact transfer.
These solutions are ideal for houses, flats, or conversions where privacy and noise control between storeys are key.
🏠 Ceiling Soundproofing
Ceiling soundproofing for when you want to block noise coming from above.
We offer:
- Suspended ceiling systems with resilient bars and acoustic plasterboard to absorb and block sound.
- Insulated ceiling cavities, installing dense acoustic materials to fill the void between joists.
- Upgrades to existing ceilings, including additional layers of soundproofing board and isolation components installed below your existing ceiling.
These can be used in houses, but are often a great addition for someone living in a flat where they are disturbed by the upstairs neighbours.

Free Home Insulation Surveys in Scotland.
Free Surveys & advice. Written Quotes.
And No Sales People.
What to expect if you make an enquiry.
The first step is to arrange a free survey and we will come to inspect your property, availability will depend where in Scotland you are located. A survey can take as little as 15 minutes, but we are happy to check the whole house while we are there if you like and answer any questions you may have.
If you inquire through the web site or call us, we can arrange a suitable to time for the survey to take place. During the survey we will check the property is suitable, answer any questions you might have, agree what we are going to measure up and quote, we will then email over a written quote showing what we propose to do and the costs for the work.
If you accept the quote, we can book you in for the work to start as soon as there's availability that suits you. We are typically booked up around 4 weeks in advance.
The insulation process itself is relatively simple, quick, and doesn't create mess inside your home. If there is no existing hatch, one can be created. We will have discussed that at the survey, so there should be no surprises.
For most homes the installation will take between 4 hours for a small Loft or Underfloor to a full day for a large Bungalow. Joinery work such as loft flooring or ladders can take longer, large renovations can take a week or more.
The Installation team will take before, during, and after photographs to document the process. They will be happy to keep you informed as the job progresses and show you the results at the end.
There shouldn’t be any surprises on install date, as the first stage of the process is to come and have a look at what is involved and answer any questions you might have.
Insulation is a quick win with a short payback on the investment and stress free to have installed. Loft ladders, flooring or Soundproofing have their own benefits attached.
Does Soundproofing your home work?
Yes—when done properly, soundproofing can make a significant difference in reducing unwanted noise in your home. The key is choosing the right solution for the type of noise you’re trying to control, and installing it correctly.
There are two main types of noise:
- Airborne noise – like voices, music, or TV sounds travelling through walls.
- Impact noise – like footsteps or objects dropping on the floor above.
Soundproofing systems are designed to tackle one or both of these types using a combination of dense, absorbent materials and clever construction methods—like adding mass, decoupling surfaces, or filling cavities. When installed professionally, these systems can dramatically reduce noise transfer, depending on the structure of your home and the materials used.
It’s important to understand that soundproofing doesn’t mean total silence—but it does mean a noticeable and often dramatic reduction in disruptive sounds. The result is a quieter, more private space, whether you're trying to reduce noise from neighbours, between rooms, or between floors in your home.
If you're unsure about the best soundproofing solution for your property, we can assess your space and recommend the most effective system—whether you're looking to soundproof a party wall, reduce floor impact noise, or quiet a noisy ceiling.
